Mike Liut

Mike Liut is Chief Integration Officer for team sports and Managing Director of Octagon Hockey. 
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Mike graduated from Bowling Green University in 1977, and in the same year won CCHA Player of the Year honors. Mike’s professional hockey career began in 1979 when he signed with the St. Louis Blues.  He then played 13 seasons in the NHL with St. Louis, Hartford and Washington, winning both the 1981 Lester Pearson Award and the All Star Game MVP.  That same year, the NHL named him to the First All Star Team; in 1987, he was named to the NHL’s Second All Star Team.
During his career Mike served as NHLPA Vice-President (1986-1989) and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Negotiating Committee Member (1986-1992).  Upon retiring after the 1991-1992 NHL season, Mike attended the Detroit College of Law while working as the NHLPA’s Player Liaison.  In 1995 he served as a Negotiating Committee Member for the CBA and coached the goaltenders for the University of Michigan hockey team.  Upon graduation, Mike remained with the NHLPA as an associate counsel from 1996 until he joined Octagon in 1998.
