Jan Plewes, head of Octagon’s Client Financial Services business, manages the day-to-day operation of the Financial Services division for Octagon’s clients.  Her role includes oversight of the investment advisory practice, the tax planning and preparation services, and the client cash management function.

Jan has been working in the financial services industry for more than 25 years, specializing in financial advice for professional athletes.  Her experience and knowledge have played a major role in developing the financial management practice at Octagon. 

After graduating with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland, Jan, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), started her career in the public accounting industry.  Her early experience with athletes came as a tax preparer for a CPA firm that worked with a number of leading athletes.  Octagon (then Advantage International) hired her in 1985 as an expert in taxation for athletes.  Jan successfully completed her certification as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) in 1998.
